Trusting your body's innate knowing

“Are you ready to breathe?” says my breathwork facilitator partner

“You bet, let’s get this breathwork party started. This is as lit as I’m getting these days anyways, so let’s do it!” I said.

For real though, it’s been a year since I shared about my journey on stepping away from alcohol. Breathwork and meditation has been my go to when I’m feeling a lot of emotions surface, to process, feel, and honour them, rather than push them down like I used to.

What I meant by getting lit, was a joke because I had a full day of being on at work, so I wanted to crack jokes, and it’s important to have fun and laugh when you’re doing breathwork/meditation if that comes up at times. It’s a reminder to live lightly, allowing things to roll off your back like water off a duck’s back.

Do you ever look at yourself in the mirror and see how different your face looks? Like how you as a whole person has evolved and changed?

It’s such a trip.

Are you allowing yourself space to evolve and change? Or are you gripping tightly onto the comfort of safety and predictability to soothe your ego?

What I’ve come to realize is that, when you and I create space to be with ourselves without distractions in combination with breath, it has the ability to rewire, recreate and reclaim our lives in some way shape or form. It’s magical and scary af, and sometimes it doesn’t make logical sense why we cry, however it’s our body’s innate knowing to release. It’s okay to trust your body’s innate inner knowing my friend.
